Coins for a Cause

Daily Coin Counting

Objectives:

             To engage students in the Coins for a Cause coin drive

              To develop money skills by counting collected coins daily.

              To determine the amount of money needed to get to the next dollar.

Activities:

1st Day Activity - As a whole group, review value of each coin. As a class, count coins being donated to the cause. Write the dollar amount on chart. Next, discuss strategies to figure out how much money is needed to reach the next dollar amount.

 Every day after - Collect coins and add the previous dollar amount. Write on chart paper and then determine the amount of money needed to reach the next dollar.
